Smoothie is actually a fast meal in a glass. A meal full of vitamins, minerals, protein, antioxidants and even more.
It is delicious and nutritious supplement for meal or snack. There is much more to smoothies than just ice and fruit. Here are some tips how to make a smoothie as you like.
1. Fruit
First of all you have to choose fruit. Choose al least two types and it can be frozen or fresh. If you want you r smoothie to be extra healthy, you also have to add something green.
Fruit: bananas, berries, pear, apple, watermelon, peach, kiwi, pineapple, cherries, mango, avocado
Greens: spinach, beet greens, dandelion greens, kale
2. A base
For a good smoothie you need a good base. 1 or 2 cups of liquid – depends of how many fruit or vegetables you have chosen. You can take: water, green tea, coconut water or milk, iced coffee, almond/soy/rice milk, fruit juice.
3. Something to thicken up
Thick up your smoothie to get the right consistency and it also makes it more nutritious. For thicken up your smoothie take any nut butter, yogurt/kefir/cottage cheese, oats, ice cream, chia seeds, ice cubes or coconut meat.
4. Flavor
Boost your smoothie flavour with something sweet or spicy. Take dates, sugar, figs, vanilla/almond extract, nutmeg, maple syrup, honey, herbs (mint, basil) or cinnamon which will add sweetness, with no extra calories.
5. Power
And the last but no least, you need to add some power boost. Add one of the famous superfoods and make your smoothie even better and healthier. Superfoods are maca, acai, cocoa powder, bee pollen, sprouts, probiotics, protein powder, wheatgrass, green powder, spirulina, vitamin powder, ground flaxseeds, goji berries or fish oil.
