Wine is the only alcoholic beverage that contains flavanols. These have preventative impact on cardiovascular diseases. Anthocyanins give the wine nice red color. They are a pharmacological agents, which have properties of potential chemopreventive compounds. These are also in red tomatoes. Reservatrol in the wine is a preventive effect in all three stages of the formation of cancer.

Moderate drinking wine extends the life

It has been proven that people who drink wine moderately, for 34 % lower level of mortality, than those who drink beer or spirits. Moderate drinkers of wine are also 30 %  less likely to suffer a heart attack, than those who do not drink, they also have a 30 %  lower chance for the occurrence of type 2 dibetes.

One American study from the ’90 of the last century, showed that there were elderly people who drank wine in moderate amounts and had fewer problems with vision loss than those who did not drink wine.

Wine has a positive effect on the maintenance of appropriate weight, if it is consumed together with food. Wine can otherwise increase the appetite, so it is recommended to drink it with meals. A similar quantity of white wine has about 100 calories and 1.18 grams of carbohydrates.

And how much wine is recommended to drink per day? Experts recommend 1.5 dl for women and 3 dl for men per day.
