Brussels Sprouts with mustard sauce

If you thought that of Brussels sprouts can not create memorable and tasty dishes, you were wrong! Here is the healthy and easy recipe for brussels sprouts with mustard sauce.

Ingredients:

  • 900 g brussels sprouts
  • 3 tablespoons butter
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 0.25 teaspoon freshly ground pepper
  • 2 medium shallots
  • 2 tablespoons sherry vinegar
  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 200 ml thickened cream

Preparation:

Preheat the oven on 210 degrees Celsius. Clean and wash the Brussels sprouts, larger bulbs cut longitudinally in half. In a small saucepan melt butter.

Put Brussels sprouts into a small baking dish. Pour over two tablespoons of melted butter, two tablespoons of olive oil and then season to taste with salt and pepper. Use your hands (or a spoon) and mix well all the ingredients. Lightly shake the baking dish so that Brussels sprouts are evenly distributed. Put the dish into the preheated oven and bake for about 18 minutes.

Meanwhile prepare the mustard sauce. Clean and cut the shallots. In the pan heat the rest of the butter and olive oil. On the hot fat, fry shallots until translucent, add the vinegar, reduce the temperature and cook for 1 minute that vinegar evaporates. Stir in the mustard and cream and slightly raise the temperature, so the sauce can boil (just a little bit). Cook for about 5 minutes or until slightly thickened. Mix several times during cooking. Try the sauce, and optionally season with salt and pepper.

We take the roasted Brussels sprouts from the oven and put it in a shallow bowl, pour the prepared mustard sauce and serve on the table.
